Master Reproduction of a Henryk Siemeradski Original Painting
Jesus Asks for a Drink but Restores the Soul Thirsting for Acceptance and Dignity

I saw an image of Siemeradzki’s original in a magazine and knew immediately that wanted to paint it. I had been taking a recreational painting class for some time and had started to venture into painting Bible story scenes out of my imagination. However, I thought it would be a good exercise to aim big…and indeed I even bought a very big canvas, 30″ x 48″ x 1.5″ for it. When I walked into class with this large canvas, and showed the instructor what I wanted to do, I thought he would discourage me. Instead, he got very excited about it and had me draw the image on the canvas first. I then started with the sky and mountains in the background. Then, I jumped into the two figures, the hardest parts. It was a labor of love. I remember working in the little pool and the rocks of the well. When I extended it right up to the front of the painting, my instructor said it was an excellent choice, drawing the viewer to the two figures. I ended up being so engrossed in this painting that I worked on outside of class, finishing it in a mere six months. I made some changes, as I had actually been several times to the Holy Land. I had not been to this well, but had passed by the area, and tried to imagine what it would look like. I added the town in the back (Sychar), from my imagination, and also birds as I think wherever Christ was, all nature rejoiced.
This painting is not for sale. It just brings to much joy to my life. I can connect with the woman in so many ways. I do have some prints that are available for purchase
